I think the people in charge hope the cop will kill himself to save the department, City, etc the hardship of a trial.

NEW: Minnesota prosecutor says video showing George Floyd's death is "terrible" but says there's "other evidence that does not support a criminal charge"

twitter

It's possible there are things we don't know yet. Maybe he didn't die from suffocation but from a heart condition.

Probably waiting for autopsy report to determine charges.

Are we even sure the knee on his neck is what killed him? Maybe he was all drugged up and his heart gave out from all the excitement.

Didn’t change the criminal action of the officers. In your hypothetical, they should be rendering medical aid or attempting to..not sitting knee to neck til he’s dead

My guess is they have the body camera video and maybe the video shows something slightly different than the cellphone video and they need to get all the evidence squared away before they decide to charge or not. Color me shocked that they did not just send them to the electric chair based on the cellphone video alone.

Anyone that wasn't a LEO would be arrested. There is time for fact finding on evidence while you await trial. Dude should be in jail right now like anyone else. If he bonds out the fine but he should be in jail

Maybe they didn't know he swallowed anything? It's not their fault of he OD'd while being restrained. It's not murder if suffocation wasn't the cause of death. Sure, it might look bad on video, but let the facts speak.

Yeah the knee on his neck might not have killed him... Police could have poisoned him before they apprehended him to make it look like he swallowed a bunch of drugs so they would get off when they killed him.

You think they’d give you the same courtesy? Put the frickers in jail, if they are exonerated l later. Let em out. Same they’d do to you or me.

The cop better be calling Ed at Best Quality Vacuum for an extraction if he isn’t charged.

It would still be criminal. Police brutality of some type. Lock me up, you can figure out all the charges later. Same as they’d do to you

I didn't realize we were dealing with such a brilliant legal scholar.
