Powers that be at the time probably still had that Zimmerman Note/ German ties still fresh in their memory banks. How could they trust the tortilla flippers at that point?

Mexico declared war on Germany and Japan in May 1942. The only force to actually see combat though was a squadron equipped with American P-47s that fought in the Pacific.
