Why is Trump still letting leftist "journalists" interview him?

Haberman from the NYT, Woodward, etc.? There's no upside here. Same with the "town hall trap" next week on ABC. This, along with hiring dumb backstabbers like Bolton, are some of the more frustrating aspects of the Trump presidency.

Traps.
One thing Trump has learned to manipulate throughout his career is how to make the media work for him.
Hell, he got to be the republican nomination with barely spending a penny on ads and plenty of free airtime. Fooled CNN & MSMBC in giving him free airwaves until it was apparent that he had the nomination cinced.
Not to be a 45-D chess conspiracist, but I am hopeful, if not guardedly hopeful, that he laid a few bombs in Woodward's book.

There's a phoniness in politics that is so off-putting. Trump doesn't give a frick and doesn't mince words, even to those who hate his guts and will twist what he says to fit their narrative. I admire that crude type of honesty.

after Chris Wallace interviewed him, he spoke about it on Fox...he showed a grudging admiration for Trump, said he sat out there in the heat and answered the questions. said you might not like his answers, but he answered them.

How many interviews has Biden given to conservatives or the handful of conservatives on Fox News? Now compare that to how many Trump gave to prog filth in 2016 or this year.

Just a theory, but he knows they will exaggerate and take out of context everything he says. People read the headlines and expect what he said to follow what the media told them he said and when it doesn’t, he’s able to get his message across to someone who is now questioning the media’s motives.

I don't think he wants to remain POTUS but he also doesn't want to lose. I bet if he could negotiate a way out of D.C. with a full pardon, with the appearance of it being a misdeed to him, he'd do it in a heartbeat. That would give him outs with something to keep complaining about.

I agree with that. Trump can take the presidency or leave it. He’s not beholden to anyone on either side. I like that he enjoys screwing with the media who don’t get this.

Why would anyone want to be President with what Trump deals with? He is reviled by the press and almost everyone in DC. Both he and his family have been harassed constantly by prosecutors in multiple jurisdictions. They are serving notice to everyone in the future who's thinking of running for President who isn't in the club: do it and we'll ruin your life and the lives of those close to you.

Why shouldn’t he? He’s the President, he shouldn’t only speak to those journalists who toe the line. This is one of the things I actually like about Trump.
