Why is Racial/Gender Diversity more important than Qualifications?

Corey Booker has been bitching about a lack of diversity amongst the Dem candidates. Please tell me when Racial & Gender Diversity became more important than qualifications?? Isn't diversity simply a result after candidates declare? How can anyone be held accountable for "Lack of Diversity"? It's like blaming somebody for a crappy poker hand. Typical Democrats - have to blame somebody or something else for their issues.

True. But a lot of people still agitate to take the minority candidate over the qualified candidate anyway, even when big money and big stakes are involved.

It's not and it's more of an insult to black people than anything. There are many black folks who are more than capable of standing on their own and do, it's just the ones with sense and integrity don't run for office.

The first woman president will be a Republican because she will be extremely qualified an vetted. The Democrats just pander. “Well we tried a white woman and that failed, let’s try a black woman next.” Currently they are on the “let’s try a gay guy”.
