Because Dumb-Bell Edwards is running a whisper campaign against him since everyone knows Edwards sucks. Three months ago, Landry was the guy on this board. He announces and now there's a bunch of posts piling on about how terrible he is.

Probably my second choice, and there's a pretty big drop-off after Graves and he, at least in my opinion.

I’m sorry but Graves is weak with little raisin balls.

He ain't that smart, has no ideas of his own, and just says whatever political talking points are popular.

If LA is ever going to advance from governmental leadership, it's not going to be via politicians like Landry.

If LA wants to have a guy in leadership who wants to "talk tough" and never do anything, then Landry is your guy.

Due to his intelligence issues, he will only be as good as his chief of staff. People want to pretend that Landry had all these legal challenge when it was his Solicitor General. Then people want to pretend hiring her shows how great he is. Hey, why don't we support electing the actual brains behind the operation?

He is the closest to DeSantis we have ever had.

Dude if Landry ever tried to be like RDS, he would look like an absolute clown. We're talking several standard deviations on an IQ chart difference.

RDS went to Harvard Law School.

Landry went to Loyola (which is basically Southern at $50k/year).

His attempt to sue a reporter from The Advocate due to their making a FOIA request on sexual harassment charges of one of his top people at the AG's office was mind-numbingly dumb.

I like some of the things he's been a part of (like suing the federal government over using social media to silence critics), but such a blatant attempt (as the state's AG, no less) to trample the First Amendment? His competition will have to be pretty crappy for me to pick him.

The AGs office has been a shite show under Landry. They have lost a LOT of good people because he doesn't know how to run an agency.

Landry brought in Leon "fake subpoena" Cannizzaro to run his criminal division b/c Landry had run that whole division into the ground.

Landry sneakily had his subcommittee submit an amendment to the USCG Reauthorization bill in 2012 to keep his fingers prints from being seen. It would have shutdown lots of production from existing wells and fields in the Gulf of Mexico and made a shiite pile of money for workboat owners using 1960's technology of having a standby boat at all of the production platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.

This would have impacted especially Louisiana owned oil/gas companies.

This is why Boustany beat him in 2012 because he fricked Laffy based oil and gas, Boustany was on ways and means and the conference committee that got it removed from the House version.

Landry's reply was something like, "I called Shell and they said it wouldn't impact them at all." Shell had gotten rid of all but deepwater production so of course it wouldn't impact them and his response was either lame lie or pure ignorance of offshore biz.

I voted for him for AG while holding my nose. The opponent was likely involved in putting the squeeze on BP to buy Costner's POS centrifuges that no one wanted.

I forgot about that story.

quote:

A spokesman for Landry’s office said then that Guidry had been on “unpaid leave” as a special agent since 2017 but declined to answer questions about other roles. Guidry’s status hasn’t changed since, the spokesman said Friday.

Landry, meanwhile, boosted his own annual income by between $50,000 and $100,000 last year when he took a seat on Harvey Gulf’s board, according to a recent public filing.

Guidry has said he brought aboard Landry for his legal mind

Valiantly????? His legal brief was not even first year quality.

There's fighting and then there's fighting stupidly....then there is Jeff Landry. There has to be a better Republican/Conservative choice. He does not know what he is doing.

Can confirm. The AG’s office, outside of the solicitor general, is a complete shitshow

I think Landry actually went to Southern.

He’s definitely not as smart as Ron Desantis. But the dude makes up for it bc he is fearless. He will take a difficult position and will not be nice about it. Which is why I think he’s endeared himself to many on this board.

I believe some of the corruption whispers but I think any of it results from bending the law, not breaking it. The refusal of the FOIA request about Guidry’s perving is one such example. There’s no honest reason to have done that.

He and I are from the same area of Louisiana and I know him. Not well, but know him. There’s no way if he were truly a criminal I would have had to read about it in the Advocate. People gossip. I would have heard it, as would others in my age / social circle would have heard it from others. Plus his wife is super nice. I just don’t believe he is a criminal. I think he is VERY difficult to work for and has f’ed over some of my friends in the AG’a office.

His solicitor general is a mousey sour grapes who i cannot fathom winning an election, even if she were the brains behind the operation. She basically wrote the briefs.

I think his AG stances came from the Trump camp. He and DJT JR have done lots of events together.

Most elected officials are only y as good as their chief of staff - Desantis is a rare exception. Dude is legit smart.

Landry is not legit smart, but he’s not stupid. Don’t let the accent fool you. His major plus is that he does have the balls to kick over the apple cart on America First positions, which is required in our current situation.

Currently - leaning Landry. Maybe I’ll call him and run for AG instead of Liz Murrill.
