It's really simple math. What the Dems have been doing is catering to small pockets of the population. Enough small pockets add up to 51%. It doesn't matter if Dems support both Muslims and gays, even though Muslims hate gays. They both hear that the Dems are "looking out for me".
Let's say there are 100 people. 49 are Republicans, 51 are Democrats. So 51 people are picking the nominee. 20 of the 100 are black. 18 of them are Democrats. If those 18 vote for Biden, he only needs 8 more to have a majority. With the primary system, no single candidate will get more than 18 of the remaining 33 voters.

I know most on this board don’t believe so. Just answering the question as to why he’s a candidate. He got a lot of votes in the primaries for the reasons I already described.

The problem with the democratic party is there is no real promotion system going on. Meaning many of the governors and mayors are able to get elected by being a lunny toon. The problem is, once you get up on the national stage they can't hide... the exposure at the state level is not even close to being as high.
This is leading to candidates that don't have to work to get better i.e. weak candidates. And the act just doesn't work national.
I mean, who would have thought 5 years ago that Trump would look like the sane person in the room? But that is exactly what is going on.

He’s an influence peddler who was able to amass enough “influence capital” to outbid the other Dem candidates. Plain and simple.
He’s not particularly talented or appealing in any way, even to liberals. The fact that he’s the candidate says a lot about the Democratic Party. They’re at a crisis: their leadership is aging and incompetent. Their youth are going rogue and adopting indefensible positions that will alienate the majority of American voters. The DNC’s corruption has been on fully display the past two cycles. Even still, they go with an aging career politician instead of new blood with new ideas like Yang or someone else like him.

Probably more correct.
They could have rolled out Michelle or Oprah, meaning outsider. And on the surface that might look like a winning formula but I think Barack and Hillary used up the minority/women thing. Despite what the perception is.... I do think Americans don't care what color or sex you are once you are upon stage in Thunderdome i.e. debate stage.
They won't do well against Trump in a debate, Hillary at least had years of experience with that.
