Didn’t Tom Cotton kill this a while back?
Something about kids getting on the bus during the dark before daylight.

No, standard time all year. You ain't playing golf for 30 more minutes in the dead of winter (other than FL), so the rest of us have to be in the dark at 830 in the morning. It's dumb AF !
frick standard time in the summer. Why would you want sunrises that damn early? If we were on standard time year round, the first light would be 4:00am in Nashville in June and around 4:30 in Pensacola. Ain’t nobody trying to wake up at 2:30am to go fishing

It still doesn't change the fact that, outside of Florida and maybe the Gulf Coast, whether it's DST or Standard Time, there's not enough time in the winter to really do anything outside after work. Never mind in the north it's usually too cold unless you are doing skiing or some other winter activity.
What I wish we would do is push DST back to just being in the summer. Have DST be from the week before Memorial Day to a week after Labor Day. This way on both sides people have time to adjust and it's not on a Holiday weekend.
But then have Standard Time the other 8 months out of the year.
Or just split it down the middle 30 minutes and be done with it. 30 minutes later than Standard Time and 30 minutes earlier than DST.

So, the only conclusion I can reach is that there must be some super secret way that someone is making money off of this and they can't/won't tell us.
A few years back, it passed 98-0 or whatever in the Senate, so virtually every Senator can now say, "Well we voted for it." It couldn't get a vote in the House. Not that it got to a vote and failed, it didn't get out of committee.
Today? It passes in the House and cannot get out of committee in the Senate.
Forget "Big Pharma", be worried about "Big Clock Change."

The clock change is the MFing problem. Not "how long". There are always going to be variances as people are near boundaries. Pick a time (I lean Standard) and stick with it. People will adjust much more naturally than a solid hour jolt twice a year.

I thought this was one thing the country could agree on.
Agree on something stupid?
You know the definition of insanity is repeating something and expecting different results. This was tried it the 70's. People wanted it, and got it and when they did they very quickly hated it.

The time change doesn't bother me I am used to it. But if people are hell bent on making something permanent then it should be standard time that is made permanent.
Going permanent DST is stupid. We have already seen some educators say that if it is done then school times may have to be adjusted. So what is the point? If this is done and schools adjust, soon employers will adjust and other will follow. Then you are in the same boat.

Buried in committee, won’t see the light of day

Well, then, that ought to settle it. Medical science says the practice is literally dangerous and fatal in some cases, but as long as you're good with it, right, Ponchy?

I agree with you.

I won't got that far, but it isn't as good a solution as year-long standard time. Permanent DST is better than changing clocks 2x a year.

School times get adjusted, maybe permanently and we all avoid the clock change? (Avoiding the clock change...IS...THE...POINT!)

No. We adjust the activities around the clock, like reasonably people, not the clock around the activities. It embraces reality. And it avoids the clock change.
If you can't see the difference between having to adjust around the clock to avoid changing the clocks twice a year, I don't know what to tell you.

Like paper money to gold, why can't we just make a 30 minute adjustment and call it even.

Trump Calls Out GOP Sen. Tom Cotton by Name for Blocking “No More Changing of Clocks Act” — House Already Passed Permanent Daylight Saving Time 308-117

President Trump dropped the hammer overnight on Senate Republicans and named Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas as the man holding up a bipartisan bill to end the twice-a-year clock change for good. In a Truth Social post early Friday, Trump told Senate Republicans they “have to get moving” on what he calls the “No More Changing of Clocks Act,” officially the Sunshine Protection Act. Despite overwhelming public support for eliminating clock shifts, Sen. Cotton has reportedly stepped in as the main bottleneck in the Upper Chamber. According to NewsNation, Cotton argued during Senate floor debate that establishing permanent Daylight Saving Time would result in “absurdly late” winter sunrises, digging his heels in against a measure supported by tens of millions of voters.
