It’s a beautifully written book. The variations on Russian names makes it tough sledding for westerners, like every Russian novel I’ve read.

This is the equivalent of Jim Bob from Small Town, Arkansas, USA, believing that 1st Baptist Church in Small Town, Arkansas, is the one true religion.

No it’s not. Dostoevsky conducts one of the most profound examinations of faith in general, and exegesis of his position, in all of history. this is not at all like your Jim Bob. Of course, it comes down to faith, and faith is often rooted in one’s culture.
