Why does the GOP have to have a replacement for the ACA?

the GOP was against the ACA prior to its original passage

the alternative is the state of things prior to this passage. that's what happens when/if it's repealed

so why, logically, does there HAVE to be a replacement on "day one", like the DEMs and their pundits demand?

it literally makes no sense as a logical argument

To avoid chaos in the insurance markets, for starters.

They don't have to, but they should. They have political cover to repeal shitty regulations under the guise of a healthcare 'replacement' plan.

They don't. All that was/is needed is enhancement of free enterprise.

I hope they don't have a replacement. I hope they just repeal and defund everything about it. Any I also hope they bear the consequences of doing that.

Now let's all just sit back and see if they have the balls to do what they have fake-voted doing for the last six years.

If you found out your wife had cancer, you would be ok with her being dropped from an insurance policy?

What if her treatment exceeded the life time cap?

This would be a nightmare scenario for many reasons. It would completely roil the health insurance markets and potentially leave many without coverage or screwed up coverage.

It's like if you wanted the feds out of air traffic control then just cancelled it at once without a replacement plan.

Politically this would be very, very dumb for the GOP.

Because Republicans take their political advice from democrats. Trump won, but Republicans in congress are still really, really stupid. They got baited into needing a better idea by getting into a dick measuring contest with the democrats instead of just repeating the refrain that democrats absolutely screwed the system so bad that what we had before is miles better than what we have now. We'll repeal now, and work through any new solutions using the normal legislative order.

Get better insurance. Pay more for it. That's how your fricking home owners and auto insurance products work.

How would you characterize the state of the insurance markets over the last 6 years?

Because parts of it are VERY popular with most voters and they like job security.

there was chaos when the ACA was implemented and there will be chaos when it's repealed, whether there is a replacement or not. it will take time, but it will work itself out

Because the ACA had some good stuff in it and "Free Enterprise" says frick people with expensive medical conditions that they can't possibly earn enough money to pay for.

I'll bet. Poor people love being almost completely subsidized for health insurance products that are better than what the middle class pay thousands and thousands for. I could see how they would be very mad that the taxpayers aren't subsidizing their damn good health insurance plans.

that has nothing to do with my question

this, also, has nothing to do with my question

i can just as easily as you: as a healthy 33 year old who has never made a medical claim in my life, why am i forced (under criminal penalty) to subsidize others? why are they allowed to steal from me?

"Get better insurance" Really?!?!?

You don't get it. There would be total chaos in what policies might even be available to you. You might have no options for coverage if you're not offered insurance through work.

All policies have now been modified for Obamacare. Go take the feds out of airport security tomorrow and get back with me.

Because people's moms die! Don't you understand that. And because people's moms die, we have to frick up the entire system on the marginal cases that could have been handled with a light touch on regulation (like a pickpocket or a safecracker).

Your emotional appeals don't make any difference. The issue you have is price. Fix the price issue. Don't create a pyramid scheme to subsidize therapies that aren't economical.
