No. I believe you damn well identify the leak and shut it off, as we have attempted in the cases you cite.

Dealing with material leaked is a different matter. E.g., Clapper was caught in an out and out lie, just like Flynn. He should have been canned, just like Flynn.

To me, the biggest distinction is did the leakers (in any leak scenario) go through the established, proper channels for correction prior to leaking?
Did Snowden, Glen, or Julian file IG complaints? Did Snowden not take a sensitive position with undue access and almost immediately begin hoarding information to abscond to China and Russia with?

I mean not that that bears on the current situation. Just pointing out what a bunch of one-ball hypocrites many of you are.

Clapper didn't disclose classified information in an open hearing when asked an indiscreet question by a hot-doggin frickhead in Congress.

Did he? I don't know. Do you?

I'm personally thrilled with any leaks that shed light on infringements on our rights, so I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking into whether or not my meaningless opinion should favor or condemn Snowden on a personal level

I just don't see how any reasonable person can conflate leaks about right infringements with leaks over "Joe is probably a traitor lying to the Russians!!!"

Spin that anyway you want. Clapper flat out lied. He lied to the Senate. He lied on national TV. There were a half dozen ways he could have handled that.

Clapper was GIVEN THE QUESTION IN ADVANCE!
He chose to lie.
He should have been dismissed, just like Flynn.

So, though you and I don't differ on actions directed at leakers, we apparently differ quite a bit on actions directed at liars.

Did he?
No. He claims to have sent one email a few years ago asking a few questions about some programs. There is no record of a formal complaint or case being opened. Snowden claimed to have such records but couldn't release them because discretion is his thing.

When "Joe" is the ringmaster of the National Security Establishment it's kind of a big deal. But you would see the danger in one and not the other.

About the time that Obama came in, there were a lot of CIA "personnel" that were retiring and quite a few that Obama and his people sort of forced to retire and quit. It became a much more tech nerd operation populated by a bunch of Ivy League types and Silicon Valley kids who are true believers in Obama. They believe that their outlook on the world is the CORRECT outlook and they will try and trash anyone who might threaten it

Link? I swear you people are perpetual victims.

I could say the exact same thing to you

The danger of what Snowden leaked far supercedes anything that's come out with this other stuff. Context matters.

What does that matter. He may well have asked the Congressman's staff or the committee staff to ensure that the question was omitted. Does that mean a Congressman would comply?

Trump apologists are acting like parents who are angry at teacher's because their kids get disciplined at school. Flynn lied. Trump knew about it and did nothing. Now, trump morons are SAD! because it leaked out. The public should know about this and if Trump was honest, he would've admitted it weeks ago. you reap what you sow......

BS. Trump could have ordered Flynn to lie to Putin and tell him the Obama Sanctions would be reversed; it the POUTS' legal right and moral responsibility to do and say whatever he has to in order to execute a given strategy.

The very idea that a bunch of rogue Obama Intel Operatives are now going to monitor, leak and essentially commit ESPIONAGE on Administration Policy is insane. Even for Dem strategy. Get the rope!

What does that matter.
It matters because the committee chairman would have redirected that question to closed session.
It matters because Clapper knew that.
It matters because Clapper wanted to lie to the public.
It matters because Clapper manipulated the situation to enable him to publicly lie, and get away with it.

Clapper thought he could get away with an overt lie exactly under auspices that you laid out .... the Senator "put him in a real bad spot, gosh darn it. Weren't nuthin' left t'do but tell a whopper to protect national secrets."

Clapper was counting on being able to "accidentally" yet thoroughly misinform the public. He knew damn good and well any clarification of his public lie would have to occur in closed-door session.

Clapper's lie in response to Wyden's query would therefore leave the public permanently under false impression. The only thing he did not anticipate is a shite-for-security system allowing Snowden to steal piles of data, and out Clapper as a liar in the process.

Clapper's was a duplicitous gambit that he lost.
He should have been fired.

All speculative. He kept his job because he was good at it and served this country faithfully than longer than most on this board have been alive.

We have more shite to worry about than Clapper if you're sincerely concerned about national security.

100% Positive. Review the Chairman's opening comments that day.

All speculative

Either the SOB was completely incompetent, or he manipulated a predictable situation into a scenario where he could deliberately misinform the public.

I don't think he was incompetent . . . but as you say, that's speculative.

The real shite is in analysis, not field work. They are the key to stopping terror attacks.
