So that they can manipulate the currency.
Which is a good thing, see the previous post on economic expansion, and contraction in the U.S.

Our paper currency is backed up only by the belief that we still have tens of thousands of gold bars in Fort Knox.
So really none of it makes sense to me.
It's a fiat currency that isn't backed by gold. Don't be silly.

Well that is the most well researched and supported rebuttal I've ever seen.

I clearly remember learning in 8th grade about how hard Andrew Jackson fought the Second Bank of the United States.
But why did the nation eventually create the Reserve, arguably a worse version of the bank with less restrictions than POTUS.
Do you realize you're slowing becoming a conservative right now?

It’s as “supported” as the conspiracy theorist’s post.
JFK actually issued an amendment to a previous Executive Order to remove silver certificates from circulation and authorize the Treasury Dept. to replace the SC’s with Federal Reserve notes.
It gave the Federal Reserve MORE power over the currency not less.
But most conspiracy theorists are too stupid to understand that.
Since you’re too lazy to use Google here you go....

Actually I do not use Google, I use Duck Duck. And from a casual perusal of a page of results:
"When President John Fitzgerald Kennedy - the author of Profiles in Courage -signed this Order, it returned to the federal government, specifically the Treasury Department, the Constitutional power to create and issue currency -money - without going through the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank. President Kennedy's Executive Order 11110 [the full text is displayed further below] gave the Treasury Department the explicit authority: "to issue silver certificates against any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury." This means that for every ounce of silver in the U.S. Treasury's vault, the government could introduce new money into circulation based on the silver bullion physically held there. As a result, more than $4 billion in United States Notes were brought into circulation in $2 and $5 denominations. $10 and $20 United States Notes were never circulated but were being printed by the Treasury Department when Kennedy was assassinated."
Hmmm I was going to paste his Executive Order, but it bascially just amending a previous one. Not really that lengthy, but you'd have to combine the two. Incidentally the Federal Reserve isn't mentioned, only the Treasury.
This matter depends on who you ask.
By what standard should I believe you over anyone else? Like oh, I dunno, a bum laying in the street?
This is the point you do not understand, or wish to understand. You accuse others of being irrational believers in insane theories. Yet never consider the possility that the whole thing is pretty obvious, but you have a vested interest in overlooking it - or worse know full well it's true, but deny it for ... reasons.

So the reserve could use your money to make themselves rich! You see, the print the money (actually it's an "IOU,") and lend it out, with intrest of course. Then they collect the intrest money and loan that out, again charging intrest. Rinse, repeat.....
