Why do Republicans ignore the overwhelming evidence that trickle down economics doesn't work
What can be done to realign their beliefs and science-denial to align closer with reality?

I reject this premise

you do realize that socialism is the definition of "trickle down", right?
the government is at the top and decides who gets what, when, and why

What works better? Trickle-up poverty? Big government wealth redistribution?

How do you not know what trickle down economics is when it's champion was Ronald Reagan?

So you're saying that every time a socialist state has been tried, it failed because "That's not real socialism"?
Pretty much. There is not a single country that Marx would say fit his concept and vision.

Not to the extent it does Socialism.
For Socialism to work everyone has to be pretty homogeneous in their drives and desires to put the societal collective first instead of the individual or the family. It's a mentality that works well only as long as everyone is on the same page and everyone participates equally.
Capitalism, on the other hand, plays to the basic natural instinct every creature has to prosper (regardless of if "prosper" is defined as "banging a female then dying") on the individual/family unit level as a primary goal, not the secondary goal Socialism puts it into.
You're thinking of communism. Socialism is already a part of our country and many others. It isn't an economic model. Your roads, police, social sercurity..etc. All forms of socialist policy in a capitalist society.
This board is full of yahoos who hate education so they never get that far.

If you are serious, just refer them to William F. Buckley videos or some good books on the subject.
It actually can work, but only in very small countries with a highly skilled working class. But anything that upsets the economic engine collapses the whole system. It doesn't recover as well as capitalism can from catastrophic events.
Imports can be particularly detrimental to socialist or communist countries as well.

I think you mean capitalism deniers.

I think it's even simpler than that. Socialists ignore one basic fact of humanity: humans, by and large, don't want to settle for what everyone else has. They want more. They want better. They simply are not satisfied with the status quo.
And this is why the human race will perish together as a whole.

Yep. Everyone trying to out-gain without any regard for the whole is exactly what cancer is. Constantly multiply and frick everyone else. Then you have capitalist jerk off fantasies of advertising and marketing, leaving everyone hollow and unsatisfied

Neither does socialism.

It works well for the poors. More people escape poverty under capitalism than socialism.
Of course we have a hybrid system that keeps the poor down for political reasons

here's the "it hasn't been done correctly, yet" line
Correct. The Soviet union was socialist, it failed.

No it's not. When we nationalize all industry, you'll have socialism.

Can someone explain to me how socialism is perfect on paper? It has always looked like theft to me.
