Well Israelis did that to get their promised land back in the day. Then Christians did it across Europe to pagans. Now Islam is doing it. This isn't really anything new for the desert religions. These religions have annihilated history and culture where they went.
And would Islam really be that bad?

They don't feel oppressed. The truth is, their beliefs are actually a totalitarian/theocratic form of governance; hell, you could call it a form of 'submission', masquerading as a religion. The Quran is not like the New Testament in any way, shape or form (nor is the Talmud for that matter). Taqqiya, aka lying through their teeth, is acceptable in circumstances as benign as misleading a person in order to help mend their relationship with another person ("I swear to you I did not witness her sucking that other man's D"), and as malevolent as violent Jihadist belief obfuscation.
They don't feel oppressed, they feel superior.
Oh, and beware of any ethno-European converts. If I see a blonde or red beard and no mustache under a lacy muslim man hat, I feel unease. They are the TRUE believers.

The good Muslims are, the jack Muslims aren’t. As far as the majority, they and their sympathizers are absolutely in the majority at least in Sunni Islam. That’s how people like Erdogan, the Muslim Brotherhood, etc win elections.
