No. Peak oil was proven false. And there are plays in the Delaware Basin that can be drilled for at least another 50 years.

So, go on...

Yet they keep finding more? Peak oil was supposed to be in the 80’s right? Damn, technology has changed and they keep finding billions more barrels of the stuff.
It’s not finite in the sense you are implying.

It’s not being created to replenish what we extract in any meaningful timeframe, so yeah it’s definitely finite. Technology is extending the peak but there will come a time where the remainder is too difficult or expensive. Finding something more sustainable only makes sense but I get many in here have a vested interest in the industry so will certainly argue otherwise.

We import about 5mmbd from Canada and the rest of the shortfall is made up by Mexico, Russia, Saudi and Colombia

Environmental Regs can be good
Environmentalism can be bad (anti-capitalism)

But f&d costs get higher and the shale revolution has proven, so far, to be a a sub economic misadventure.

I'm sorry, but are solar panels and wind turbines made out of salt water? The materials needed to make "renewable" energy are far from renewable.

It’s what kept those fat pudgy frickers air conditioned and heated for the last 150 years. Oh and btw where is all the benefits from that solar company Barry bankrolled to give us clean energy?

The abundance of energy strength gives american independence and that's the last thing these progressive thugs want for us.

You can’t know the peak until you can quantify the end point

We have no idea how much oil is left

So we can’t define the peak

25% of TX electricity comes from wind and that figure is growing.

Just let the market solve the problem. We will not have a energy change in one day where we are out of something. As prices rise then natural investment will flow into alternative technology. The idea that politicians need to subsidize alternative energy currently is silly with the current technology and resource supply in North American shale/unconventional plays.

Doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist though.

We have no idea how much is economically recoverable...the shale rev has largely been an exercise in uneconomic recovery of oil reserves.

Absolutely, unfortunately we don’t. The oil and gas industry is heavily subsidized which distorts the market.

With O&G bankruptcies in the shale world skyrocketing, the market seems to be deciding.
