I'd prefer at least one party to retain some modicum of the ability to follow the rules and not be petty children.

The main reason is the 4 spineless senators named Romney, Murkowski, Collins and Lee.
Without those 4 there is no majority.

If it was the House I might agree. But this is the Senate.
It has traditionally been the "adult" half of Congress, and I'd like it to stay that way.

Agree. Sometimes it's best to just go ahead and ease on out with a win. Even strut away with that win. But don't put the luster of the win at risk with unnecessary actions. Plus, why risk unintentionally opening a door that could cause unforeseen and, again, unnecessary complications??
