I was disappointed in his lack of action also - BUT - he has an obligation to go along with the officially declared experts in the medical fields unless he had enough info to remove them from their duties.

He had the power to bring actual experts to deal with the virus. It's not like anybody paying attention was surprised to learn down the road that Fauci was a political hack. FFS do you remember his smirks during Trump's press conferences? His love letters to Hillary?

There were more than enough actual experts that understood the folly of lockdowns, etc back in early Covid to have led the way for Trump to handle Covid well.

DeSantis locked his state down from US citizens. Might not want to go down this road

I think there are points to be won by being critical of some of Trump's decisions/actions. Not just on Covid.

Correct. Trumps domestic policy was one massive failure due to a lack of leadership.

His foreign policy was fine, not his domestic policies which is weird for an America first" candidate.

Because the answer would be pure speculation.

Heaven forbid an opinion is rendered on a politics message board.

Weird.

What? You demanded that I answer your question. My response is “I have no idea”. That is a valid response.

Governors have the power to do this in emergencies. Not sure what that has to do with Trump making shitty hires.

Florida doesn't have to allow filthy New Yorkers or Louisianans into the state.

FFS do you remember his

I dont know when I first started referring to him as a "mad scientist" - but somewhere shortly after the "15 days to stop the spread" something about his attitude made me completely distrust everything he said. It was quite early in the game.

However, I felt Dr, Blix? was reasonable for almost the entire duration of the ordeal - only at the end did it seem to be she was as liable as the rest of them = all working at cross purposes to their official obligations. Sadly the whole upper echelon of our government has been corrupt for decades.

I refuse to berate Trump for how COVID was handled in the first year. It was an unprecedented time and people were scared. He did what he thought he needed to do. It’s easy to look back at past events and play Monday Morning Quarterback. And it’s easy to ace the test when you have the answer key.

It's not Monday morning quarterbacking when you recognized the bullshite in March of 2020. Even on this message board, there were posters that had it right in real time.

In hindsight, I don't think it was the right move. However I think that measure was understandable in the first few weeks as more was being learned about the virus. I was personally skeptical about its severity and the ability to really do anything to mitigate its spread but understand the early reaction.

And it's a totally different matter than just blanket shutting down your state's economy. You act like it's some gross infringement of Americans' Constitutional rights, but you know it isn't.

It was a crapshoot. It was either a really serious virus or not. And those that said “not” ended up being correct. But I do not fault people who were scared from the massive media onslaught and believed it was a world changing virus. Nobody knew how fast it would spread, how many people would die, and what the ultimate end would look like. The natural response was to isolate everyone from everyone else. Nobody knew what else to do.

Love that nickname.
Fits him perfectly.
From now on, I’m gonna start referring to him as “lockdown Don”.

If you fell for the hype, I can see why you'd say this.

If you didn't, then I'm not sure why you'd say this.

It wasn't a crapshoot.

I do. Because you should have known better. Particularly after all the climate change BS, racism BS, cops murdering thousands of unarmed black men BS - seriously, why would anybody have thought, "sure, the f'n MSM, which I bitch about 24/7 because they're f'n liars" - why would they suddenly become credible a month after cheering the second impeachment of DT?

This simply isn't true.
