I get the point he's trying to make but it's wrong, you can't at all compare Germany to the South. As far as the "shame" game I see the similarities but what the US was doing >>>>>> 20s 30s 40s Germany. The US did the same as pretty much every country on earth. We're just the only ones who guilt ourselves. But the US wasn't torturing and murdering millions of people because of their ethnicity.
WW2 Germany was so significant that it taints everything that happened in that country in any time period remotely close to WW2. shite, I've been to Munich with some Danish people and one of them said "haha this is actually kind of scary huh" when we passed by a place where Hitler made a famous speech almost 100 years ago. Denmark is on the northern border of Germany and that guy still said that. The US has nothing like that.
