The TV inventor was indeed born in Russia. But he migrated to the USA in 1927 and helped invent the vcr in 1947. So I wouldn’t really count that as a Russian invention

I used to be so much against this but they love Christ there so I'm totally game now.

The Eastern European lobbies in the US hate and/or fear Russia. And the neocons, which at its core is a Jewish ex Communist, ex Trotskyite, movement, would never permit it. They hold a grudge that they’ll never let go of.

Regardless of our history with them and our differing cultures, I’d still think we have much more in common with them than they do with Iran, China, N. Korea, etc.

People need to read up on Russia before expounding about any potential "brotherhood" with them.

Sure we can look at some cuties in Moscow and say they are just like us. That is the one percent. Or one tenth of one percent. Saw a lot of young men in that video too. Why aren't they fighting on the front lines? Quite possibly because they are one of children of big shots, what Russians call the "Golden Youth" of today there. For them no laws, no rules, steal, have whores, do what you want.

Now take a look at how the rest of the people (not everyone, but a huge majority) live. Trust me, I've been there (not this specific village, but there overall) - this is real life, everything is gray, people never smile, people die very young from preventible diseases, almost everyone has terrible teeth...

Oh, and how many know Russia actually has two religions that are considered "official" - Christian and Muslim?

Recognized under the law and by Russian political leaders as one of Russia's traditional religions, Islam is a part of Russian historical heritage, and is subsidized by the Russian government. The position of Islam as a major Russian religion, alongside Orthodox Christianity, dates from the time of Catherine the Great, who sponsored Islamic clerics and scholarship through the Orenburg Assembly.

LINK
Although Islam is a minority religion in Russia, Russia has the largest Muslim population in Europe. According to the US Department of State in 2017, Muslims in Russia numbered 14 million or roughly 10% of the total population.

The Grand Mufti of Russia, Sheikh Rawil Gaynetdin, estimated the Muslim population of Russia at 25 million in 2018.

The irony is thick.

No, whereas the Soviets did take some German rocket technology and some engineers, it was nothing remotely on the scale we did. The Soviets relied far more on technology they had developed themselves before WWII, and built on those existing rocketry programs after WWII rather than starting from scratch as the US did.

As an interesting aside, early on, the USSR prioritized rockets for space objectives while the US military drove much of our own rocket development. Redstone was Von Braun's continuance of the V-2, and Atlas was our ICBM vehicle.

Russia didn't want to have the requirements for membership met by it.

If we can be close allies with Japan, England, Germany, Italy, etc etc, why can’t we with Russia by now?
Because we did a pretty good job of handling relations with our former enemies after WW2, and a TERRIBLE job of it after the fall of the USSR.
