I feel like I am watching my country slowly commit economic suicide. It is the equivalent of having a wart on your hand and cutting off your entire arm.

The consequences of the shut down will be significantly worse than the worst possible cases of this disease.

We have just now topped 80 deaths from CONVID. While all deaths are tragic, most of these people are elderly. We average 90 deaths per day in this country from automobile accidents.

It’s likely that this disease has been in the US for months. I’m convinced my wife had it in early February.

Problem is world economies are intertwined.

Trump tried his best. Asia and Europe panicked like no other; they committed economic suicide and homicide(on the US economy)

Trump can't do it all.

Because the smartest people in the world are telling us to do it. People who have dedicated their whole life to studying this stuff. People who have forgotten more than you know.

How do you know that? Any facts or evidence? Any education?

CDC says onset of the first illness in the US was Jan. 14th.

80+ people (mostly elderly & infirm) in 2 months. Last week, we started shutting things down.

Do the math.

Because frick China.

And because we don’t want our hospitals to get overwhelmed.

We know people are going to get sick. We’re just trying to make sure it’s not all at one time.

Sort of like the panic rush on toilet paper.

We only have so many beds, respirators and Emergency Room docs

One month. 88 deaths so far.

We are a nation of 320mm people. Losing even 50,000 people is almost unnoticeable.

The economic strain of disrupting the jobs of 100mm Americans is much worse.

People who don't work for free. People who are bought and paid for.

The last medical man to not have an agenda was Jonas Salk.

God knows there will be some pharmacutical company that will tell us we all have to take our special little pil for $100 a pop.

I’ve been thinking that every generation HAS to have their own crisis... they’ve been trying to push a climate crisis for a few years but (even if you buy into it 100%) there’s nothing to sink your teeth into.

We’ve got people in college who weren’t even alive during 9/11, much less remember life before it, so this is their crisis.

This is the “event” that people will be talking about for 20+ years.

We are trying to avoid the situation where doctors have to choose who gets life saving treatment and who doesn’t, where emergency medical attention takes hours instead of minutes, where dead bodies stay in houses for days because no one will pick it up, where people lose faith in the idea of a civilized society.

A vast majority who test positive for this thing and are symptomatic are told to stay at home, rest, drink lots of water, and stay away from others. They don’t need a fricking hospital. It’s a fricking cold that will pass.

Let that sink in and ask yourself - why the frick are we Shutting down our entire country when, even if you get it, it’s a cold that will pass? The media has totally mindfricked us into fearing a damn cold.

Except it isn't. It's more like cutting off a gangrenous toe to prevent sepsis.

Whoo buddy, no they are not.

We are in the nascent stages of the epidemic in this country and that number is going to balloon. Doing nothing is absolutely the wrong call. We must act to soften this blow, and now we have.
