I could potentially be okay with this if I was confident no one in Trump’s orbit was profiting from this deal, but he keeps his finances intentionally murky through crypto dinners and business dealings.

How is it dumb? Again we have the largest base in their country.
Here. Educate yourself.

The United States requested in 2011 that Qatar provide a base for the Hamas leadership to ease communications with the group.[3] From 2012, Qatar hosted the Hamas party leadership when Hamas head Khaled Mashal relocated from Syria to Qatar.[4] Ismail Haniyeh, who succeeded Mashal as political head of Hamas, had also resided in Doha as of 2016.[5] Qatar has been called Hamas' most important financial backer and foreign ally.[6][7]
From 2018 to 2023, Israel's government enabled and approved Qatari support for Hamas for political reasons.[8]
In May 2024, it was reported that the United States had urged Qatar to remove Hamas leaders from its territory if they declined to agree to a hostage deal with Israel. Later, it was reported that Qatar was reviewing the future of Hamas' office in Doha as part of a broader evaluation of its role as a mediator in the Gaza war.[11] In November 2024, reports emerged that Qatar had ended its mediation between Israel and Hamas and ordered the group to leave the country following U.S. pressure

Well hold on to your knickers.
Sources say Trump is replacing the Washington monument with a Iraqi scud missle.

Imagine the threads on here if Biden/Obama had done the exact same thing after a $5.5b luxury golf course and a jet.
You don't think we had foreign military personnel here during their administrations?

Barry Seal is an amazing local figure. Gunned down by the cartel by Machine guns on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.

McDonnel Douglas is the big winner here. They are the ones selling the jets.
Posted on 10/10/25 at 2:32 pm to Bamanjo
What does a Jet being donated to the US and some golf course have to do with foreign military personnel training here?

But again. We have 750 foreign bases and 0 bases in the US for other nations.
And we still don't, giving them a building and barracks in not a base.

We have literally military bases and operations all over the world and a lot of that time for many units is spent in cross training with Allies. I imagine that’s what this will be a lot of, perhaps with Mexican marines who are vetted and SOCOM for the pending showdown in Mexico.
Haven’t looked much into this but I seriously doubt we are about to be letting anyone build a Bagram air base somewhere in Iowa

why are we training Qatari military personnel with US equipment and tactics?

1. Know the relationship.
2. Know your GDP's and who's gonna fund shite.
No issue with this. Especially with them constantly upgrading and expanding our Al Udeid base - the largest in the Middle East.

In April the Trump Org announced a deal to build a golf course in Qatar, then they donated a jet to his library. Now they’re building a military base here.
