Two reasons stick out:
- seems to be factual at this point that Venezuela ran an amnesty program dedicated to deporting their worst to the United States. Not to say it doesn’t happen with Mexico and Colombia too, but the scale and coordination by Venezuela is much more damaging to relations
- China is closest with Venezuela out of the three. If intelligence is correct, Venezuela is harboring agents conducting operations against the US. Given China is our largest geo-political enemy, any amount of truth behind the intelligence holds a lot of weight.
The strikes do have value to combat the drug trade, regardless of the origin or destination of these boats. So what if it’s bound for Trinidad or Antigua? 50+ years of assessing and influencing the Caribbean drug trade tells decision makers that the substances will largely end up in the United States. But it’s foolish to believe there are no ulterior motives behind them either.

Truth of the matter is that black politicians especially in big cities are funded by drug kingpins. The drug culture has always been a problem in black neighborhoods and is never seriously dealt with.
The white democrats look the other way as long as the blacks vote for them.
They also have phony war on drug campaigns to funnel money back to black politicians.

Do our intelligence people not track the drugs to Trinidad and Tobago? Do they not know how it gets to the US?

But the fent comes from China and Mexico. The whole policy is incoherent and probably being done for geostrategic reasons as it pertains to Venezuela. This is warmed up war on terror BS.
