Are not reciprocal tariffs completely avoidable by said country having tariffs imposed upon them?

Victor Davis Hanson on tariffs, what truly caused the depression, and the target placed upon the working and fast disappearing middle class.

Why have tariffs not destroyed the economies of those imposing tariffs on our goods if tariffs are destructive to economies?

Pretending that all economies are the same is silly.

We have the strongest economy in the world.
The countries who embrace tariffs have inferior economies.
Why do you, and Trump, want to make our economy worse?

Played a role in? Certainly.

The tariffs aren’t reciprocal. For example Japan had 4.5% tariffs on us and we respond with 25%+ on them.

Those that think the economy begins and ends with the stock market cannot be reasoned with. They live at the top of a multi-floor building and think because it's wine and roses at the top, the rotting lower floors won't eventually collapse and ruin their party.

Would rather our cronies not use the American taxpayers as the piggy banks which is exactly what they have done over last 6-7 decades. First allowing European nations to rape us and then Asian markets. The plunder our economy with goods and not allow real economic entry into their markets. This is about equal footing which the globalist actually should want but cry because Trump wants. The problem with 3 countries, Mexico, Canada and China is deeper than just trade barriers and those need addressed completely.
