And some people see everything through a racial prism. Without fail, these same self-righteous scolds believe themselves to be open-minded and free of bigotry.

Because this board must be outraged at something daily. Otherwise they might go outside and realize they've been duped.

You don't quit when the going gets tough. You don't quit because you get nervous. Champions face these things every day. Because they have a chance to win.

This is a misrepresentation of what happened. It was more than nerves and pressure and just not wanting to go through with it. She went out there and was flying through the air with no control. She knew that no amount of refocusing or pep talks from coaches was going to do anything. She didn’t have it and was going to lose it for her team, hurt herself, or both. So she stepped down.

People are calling it “quitting” or “abandoning” to give it a negative connotation, but this ignores the above nuance. All you need to know about Simone’s character is the reaction from the teammates she “abandoned”. They were happy to pick up the slack and support her completely. She also remained on the sidelines and cheered them on the entire time.

It’s the blue check marks and the resulting knee jerk reactions by cringeworthy conservative pundits like Ben Shapiro or Matt Walsh who haven’t competed at anything outside of Dungeons and Dragons competitions at the local library making it into a big deal.
