You're looking at the lowest common denominator of the homo sapiens species, so you can pretty much assume that the behavior comes from lack of confidence, questionable intelligence, lack of awareness and being thoroughly gaslit and propagandized.

If humanity makes it another hundred years, these people will be looked back upon, studied, and exemplified as one of the greatest examples of mass formation psychosis.
