You guys have it arse-backwards. This has to happen first before immigration is curtailed. It won’t happen regardless.

But that is to whom US policy generally benefits. Without changing US political economy, this will continue.

For those downvoting.. I am dead serious. How many people do you personally know that are experts in AI chip manufacturing processing or data scientists or AI/ML Engineers? How many people do you personally know that have lost these jobs due to H1Bs?

Answer: ZERO, so why the frick do you people care?

Because they make up a huge chunk of the physician pool in the US

This is due to the previous Indian invasion that started in the early 2000’s when they were applying for student F-1 visas in droves and taking up medical school spots that should’ve gone to American students.

What? It is far more likely that foreign medical graduates come to the US after finishing their medical school elsewhere through sponsored visas through residency programs. They aren't really taking up medical school spots.

Is it?

E.g., Facebook didn't exist 20 yrs ago. Now it employees nearly 80,000 workers. Zuckerberg was not "ruling class" 20 years ago.

Something similar could be set of Tesla, which now employs 140,000 people. Those are not ruling class things. They represent de novo job and wealth creation.

AI would be another example, as is its associated secondary chip and energy industry.

True, but idiotic policy nonetheless.

We have tons of qualified medical school applicants disqualified from training because of our failure to provide medical school slots. That failure is entirely due to government policy. Expansion of our medical schools would provide better training, and would provide it to US candidates.

I've seen some new schools opening, which is good. Residency spots tend to favor American grads, but I don't know what the solution is for those community hospitals in less than desirable areas.

After a certain point yes. And Facebook was coming into an industry which already had a robust H-1b program if I recall. I'm just very skeptical that we can write meaningful legislation given the amount of money involved in lobbying. Maybe I am too pessimistic though.

As long as legislation is unmeaningful, we'll continue to flourish.

Go look at the billboards on CA99 between Bakersfield and Sacramento - vast majority Indian real estate, immigration services, restaurants, etc. They've started buying up truck stops as well because there's over a million Indians driving trucks cross country now. Canada is being overrun by them and it's spreading here.
