Considering that republicans a couple threads up are openly advocating genocide and global mass murder, I’d say that relatively speaking, Democrats are the good guys.

There's a whole slew of them that could be to blame. It's hard not to pin it on LBJ, but when I look at the platform, I can't help but think that Jimmy Carter set the direction of the current climate today, or at least the current personality of the party.

Carter wasn't corrupt (at least not that I know of) but he would fit in perfectly with the "progressive" dems of today. He set the standard personality mold of the party. He got away with spewing the vilest things about Reagan that you can imagine. The media ate it up and there was never any sort of pushback publically. He created as much division as he could.

Crazy to look at the '76 electoral map. New York, Texas and all of the south voting D and California and the midwest including Illinois voting R. Crazy how things change.
