china this morning Thursday issued new numbers for afflicted/dead peeps do to corona virus. the new data returns to the trend line that it had been following up till 5 days ago. cause is claimed to be revised definitions. stock market currently is sitting on its thumb but expect to open down.

for clarity the revised definition of dead is not totally dead, but rather including dead from pneumonia in the corona count

It's what the Coronavirus does to the peeps that counts.

They've started reporting clinically diagnosed instead of just lab diagnosed. Big difference.

Any way you look at it the chinese are not to be trusted, not ever. They are the most duplicitous race of peoples in the history of the world with the possible exception of our current liberal looney left here in the United States.

They don't have enough kits to test everyone for it.

They don't have enough hospital space to put everyone with it in there even if they could test for it effectively.

They tested a woman with it four times before she finally came up positive days later.

They have no idea how many actually have this thing.

They are counting people who die without a positive kit test as something other than the virus.

They are only accepting people with pneumonia past the triage into the hospitals if they even have space for them.

They're finding that even with people who are locked down in their own rooms in cruise ships and apartment buildings it's transmitting and creating new cases. The fear is that it's traveling via sewage pipes in feces. If that's true, there's no stopping it. People aren't reaching into toilets.

They aren't' stopping this one. They're undercounting everything related to it. Get your provisions together now for a prolonged lockdown. I suspect they'll maintain the grid like they're doing in China. Just have to ride it out. Next year they might have a vaccine.

It's a SARS derivative. WHO says SARS had an actual fatality rate of 14%. ABC reported today that our government was saying as much as 60% of the planet might be effected by this. Do the math. Will make WW2 look like a paltry attempt at murder.

Or not.

We're about to find out.

For the downvoters, the good news is that it doesn't survive nearly as long on surfaces in warm climates as cooler ones. Five days on a flat dry surface in the seventies vs almost four times that long in the cold and wet.

Pray they can delay this thing through the spring. American hygiene levels should also help a lot vs what we're seeing now.

Downvote yourselves silly. Doesn't change anything a month from now or a year from now.

I hope you're right. I've never once thought one of these things was at this scale. But I started seeing stuff coming out about three weeks ago about this one that made me go ahead and shed any shame about calling wolf on this one. Everything that's happened since has been completely predictable. We're not stopping this. We might get lucky. Hope so. But the only thing we can do is keep people from moving while it's around. It's too contagious.

Buy beans and rice baw. And lock down BEFORE they call for it. The news and reaction is running behind the virus. Soon they'll start openly panicking on TV. That will cause the run on the shelves and it won't take long after that for trucks to start slowing down and that stuff you were waiting to get till it got serious... you're not getting it.

Yes we are...

Summer Olympics 2020 in Tokyo.

If anyone is planning to go, just wait few months to book your travel. Pretty sure you'll get a killer deal. In-flight movies will surely feature Contagion (YouTube Trailer).

Contagion's protagonist virus has a r0 of 2.

This is over four. Minimum.

Chinese are a race? I did not know that. Don't you mean communists are the most duplicitous people in the world?

Yep. It's bad. It's going to touch most of our lives at some point.

200 more dead today.

In 21 days the rest of the world will be where Wuhan is now. This thing has an incubation of weeks. It's going to get bad.

I've been saying the same thing. Most people aren't even talking about it yet.

Yep. And at a minimum it has a mortality rate of 2%. That's 20 times as deadly as the worst flu seasons. At a minimum. Actual mortality rate is probably more like 15%.

I overheard an offhand comment earlier to the effect of Chinese officials having met with American officials after the outbreak but before the world was ultimately made aware of the worsening situation by China.

Got to thinking, that would be a diabolical method for attempting to perpetrate harm upon the President, exposing a few of his close advisors, or himself directly, to some sort of virus like this, or even worse if possible.

Wonder if foreign officials are medically screened in any way prior to commingling with that level of advisors and/or the President??

It’s not just the heat that kills it. It’s humidity. It can survive days on a surface in a cold dry environment. It’s more like hours in a warm wet environment.

This is why the flu spreads much more effectively in Dec - Feb in the northern hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere - same thing - their flu season is Jun - Aug - which are their winter months.

If we can get to spring, this thing shuts down.

A simpler tin foil hat conspiracy, billionaires of the world had the last 4-5 days to reorient their investments to non corona virus sensitive holdings
