As someone with a Biochemistry degree who did undergrade research in areas of cancer therapeutics, I can confidently say if "long covid" was a real thing and nearly as prevalent as you seem to believe, there would be huge numbers of people out there studying it, researching it, finding underlying biochemical and/or epidemiological reasons for why it's happening, and working on finding existing drugs or creating new ones to solve all of the above issues.
I have seen no evidence this is occurring, because there is nothing to really study.
I have zero doubt there is a small segment of older people who get tissue and organ damage as it relates to COVID infections, but I am equally confident that is a tiny segment of even the elderly population.

I’m not vaxxed and had covid. I also had long covid, it just made me tired feeling for a few months
I have no heart or pulmonary issues I’ve had a thorough physical done. Feel normal now a year later
