I’m honestly not familiar with this. I went to his Wiki thinking he ran blow through the backwoods of Kentucky in his younger less uglier days. Didn’t see anything. Is it an inside joke?

Origin On April 30th, 2018, Don Blankenship, a U.S. senate primary candidate, released a campaign advertisement in which he says, "One of my goals as U.S. senator will be to ditch 'Cocaine Mitch.'" The advertisement referenced a 2014 article in The Nation magazine reporting that 40 kilograms of cocaine were found on a cargo ship owned by the family of McConnell's wife.[1][2]

quote:

After Don Blankenship lost the primary, McConnell's campaign Twitter[5] account, @Team_Mitch, posted an image of McConnell photoshopped onto the poster for the television series Narcos, which follows the exploits of real-life drug lord Pablo Escobar. They captioned the tweet "Thanks for playing, @DonBlankenship. #WVSen." Within five months, the post received more than 3,500 retweets and 12,000 likes

I mainly know I because of the nickname at getting judicial seats filled so quickly.

1) His wife or her family own cargo ships.
2) at some point cocaine was found on board one of their ships (presumably they didn't know and were just hauling it for another party and the cargo was misrepresented).
3) a political opponent running against him tried to tie it to Mitch sometime in the past.
4) some people in his campaign & possibly him laughingly embraced the idea that he was responsible... And the Cocaine Mitch meme was born.

Mitch’s family owns a shipping company I believe and it was discovered that on one of his ships had a shipping container that contained some of the drug. He has kind of embraced the nickname going forward.

I just realized the guy who called Mitch that was the Presidential candidate for the Constitution party. Don Blankenship

I voted for them last go round. Darrell Castle was a solid dude. At the time I thought Trump was full of shite and would nominate liberal judges and take a hard democrat turn. I obviously was very wrong.

If an America First party ever comes it will split off of the Republicans and maybe join with them.
