Are these assumptions from previous absentee/mail in ballots? I've seen NC and Florida numbers posted several times.

Party affiliation of early votes and mail in votes.
Essentially votes cast are broken down by whether the person is R, D, or I.

These aren't votes...they are ballots cast by party.

It is just educated guesses based on your party affiliation. Mostly crap because not many people bother to change affiliation, even when they change who they vote for. I say this as a member of a Louisiana family that has probably 20 Uncles and Aunts who are registered Democrats but haven't voted Democrat since Bill Clinton.

Affiliation votes.
But those can only be tabulated in primaries not the general election.
No ballots, mail in it otherwise has that information.

That is all on file.

They are making foolish and pointless assumptions based on party registration. Utterly meaningless.

Pretty much what I thought.

It correlates pretty heavily with who the winner is.
You can make pretty good assumptions based on previous cross party voting.

Party registration is a pretty strong indicator of how someone will vote.
I would put a lot more trust in data that says 1 million registered Democrats, 950,000 registered Republicans and 450,000 independents/unaffiliated votes were ALREADY received then I would a poll that says "we called xxx likely voters and 600 of them didn't hang up on us"

Not utterly meaninglessness at all. Some error built-in, yes. But a pretty good indicator.

Looks some states release the affiliation vote numbers (NC, Florida) and others don't. Correct?
