When will the Cotton Bowl be renamed because it’s a symbol of racism?

When will this happen? Next 2-3 years?

When it does happen, what will the replacement be? Trying to prepare myself so I can use the correct name when that time comes. I never did quit calling the Peach Bowl the Peach Bowl, fortunately now the name has been restored. Some habits are just hard to break.

Sugar plantations were generally considered much more brutal than cotton.

Does anybody know how many fricking white people picked cotton?

Anybody? Because it was shite tons. Johnny Cash picked cotton. Roughly half (or more) the white folks in the South picked cotton at least part of their lives until the second world war.

That's the God's honest truth.

I bought a bottle of aspirin the other day...no cotton in the neck. This shite has gotten ridiculous.

My Mom did along with her sisters. My Grandfather was a cotton farmer (he was a sharecropper).

No because it’s never taught and sure won’t be now or in the future. The only important information about it taught is that slaves did it and it was bad, nothing else.

Dude... let idiots think what they want to think. You aren't going to change their minds with facts and shite.

They will continue to think the Abraham Lincoln was a democrat, it was the democrats that fought to abolish slavery, the KKK was born from the Republican party, etc.. etc... You just can't teach the stupid among us.

Nice post by the way.

Both sets of my grandparents worked the farm, one set worked a local farm and my fraternal grandmother worked her family tobacco farm. My fraternal grandfather’s family has owned large farms in Iowa for generations, each with 10+ children, all of which worked and continue to work the farms to this day.

Dumb. We put cotton bolls on our Christmas tree. Now if I also hung pikininni's on the tree, you might say it's a racist tree.

We’ve lost the benefits of this lifestyle as a society. The family unit was also a work unit for the common goal of putting food on the table and surviving. Children learned a work ethic and the value of the dollar at an early age. Families worked together and ate together at the end of a long hard day.

Now everyone shoves an iPad in front of their kid and tells them to be quiet so they can watch Keeping up with the Kardashians etc. Kids are entitled and don’t want to work for anything.
