It’s obviously not a referendum on Trump, but just shows how little talent is in GOP LA state politics. Trump is the most popular President in decades and he could only pull Rispone up to a 50/50 at best chance.

Democrats have an advantage in politics. They aspire to it as a dream. Most conservatives wouldn't consider it if you put a gun to their head and the ones that do get in office for six months and start thinking, "Oh, the democrats are wrong but we could use government to do all these things" that end up being democrat shite but slower.

The system is going to decay until it breaks and then we'll start over again, just like everywhere, always.

The Romans were a lot more dominant than we are.

Is he really? I mean he didn't win the popular vote. The most popular president in decades would be Reagan.

He has a sky high approval in louisiana.

He will win the state by a 20 point margin next year.

Louisiana’s political parties aren’t exactly like national parties. Trump is popular there, but a generic GOP politician that checks all the boxes on a national level may not be.

Same with Democrats. On a national level, they are trending towards the crazy. People like Warren or AOC would be treated like aliens among Louisiana democrats.

The lib-coms are desperate, so don't ignore the high possibility of dim cheating. Remember, they don't care about how America was designed to work or its laws.

When does someone become most popular after losing the popular vote?

You need to correct the headline, he is the most popular Rep President, not most popular President. 30-40% approval does not make him most popular.

Rispone and Abraham were weak candidates. I would've voted for either one over Slingblade, but the fact remains that the Peter Principle was in full effect with both Rispone and Abraham. They weren't really Governor material.

If Vitter hadn't been a phony douchebag, he would've been elected to his 2nd term last night. Steve Scalise would've beaten JBE. without a doubt. But, something has changed since a young Congressman named Buddy Roemer coveted the Governor's mansion in 1987. By 2019, being Governor of Louisiana apparently is no longer viewed as being a bigger, better, and much more powerful position than being a Congressman in Washington, D.C.

Had he not, might have been a landslide. We may never know.
