I think the government is making a huge mistake by keeping January 6 defendants locked up indefinitely before trial for misdemeanors. I see more people mention this every day. No matter how you feel about what they did, most people don't agree with indefinite imprisonment before trial over a non-violent crime.

Folks who think freedom-loving people aren't being pushed to their limit just aren't paying attention.

The rule of law is maybe the greatest bulwark against political passions.
The law is what is protecting these assholes. My point is they are being coy about something that would set the country at ease. If they have nothing to hide then "unify". Since they won't (and we already know they cheated), frick them.

And on the flip side of the coin they had an assload of people who were arrested, charged and then released on their own recognizance. No bond necessary whatsoever. Good thing they got everyone so riled up and used all that time and government resources for such low level infractions that they just told them to "head out and stay out of trouble". Such a serious threat to the Republic, let me tell ya.

And it's true that only very seldom that a misdemeanor defendant gets held without bail. The vast majority of the time when it does being in a case of domestic abuse, the justification being that the alleged victim is under ongoing significant threat and must be protected.

No, it wouldn’t. Some new cockamamie theory would rustle up and get amplified and Trump would latch onto it and that would be the new reason he lost and was cheated.

The Progressives want you to be mad enough to do something. It will give them more of an excuse to bring more government force to bear on the dangerous Right.

Eta: go back to the Reno DOJ. They went after white fringe groups to get a reaction. They got it in OKC.

Glad we agree not all subpoenas are created equal, the requester oftentimes asks for sensitive information the requestee may not want to turn over, and due process mandates a traversal mechanism for the requestee

We do agree on that.

However- in what universe does a government contractor have a right to refuse to provide information- it already sold to the government?

Dominion not “want to turn over” the requested info- but there is no legal basis I can see for them to refuse besides nuh-uh

Is dominion in breech of contract? AZ should cancel their contract with the state and remove all dominion machines.
