yes they were.

If one defines millennials as say, 1982-2004, then that means that assuming their parents typically had them before they turned 30...........their parents were born 1952-1974.

Boomers were 1946-1964.

To say Millinnials were LARGELY raised by boomers is to be bad at math.

Why do so many millennials have a favorable view of socialism and tend to vete Democrat? I don't think that's a generalization

One of my buddies lives in Atlanta and had to choose between Abrams and Kemp. Kemp has a commercial where he says (and this is almost a direct quote): I got a big truck so I can round up criminal illegals myself!

I mean, sure, a lot of people can put aside some pandering here and there but it’s tough to be a college educated person and put a sign in your yard to support a guy like that or give him money. That’s how many Republicans are.

For all the talk of Democrats not understanding everyday Americans, I’d say that a lot of Republicans have no idea how to appeal to 20-somethings

Most older millennials were probably raised by Boomers - 1946-1964.

Yes. A 36 year old would have had a parent likely born between 1952-1962

But, that's just the oldest ones. Certainly not the great majority of them.

and here is always where the argument leads. I refer to millenials as people like me who are my age(the Xenial) group who do not feel that should be associated with the young portion of the millenial group.

I actually agree with this.

I feel as if the Millennial group is too widely defined. I feel like there's a zone of folks between X and Millennial.

I'll happily use your definition. But, I doubt yours would go EARLIER than 1982.........right?

well if it were me i would say 1980 but the pew research says 81-96.

but again...... i get testy because im in the group born between 1980 and 1986 that does not have anything in common with people born in 1995. I have more in common with friends born in 1975.

As someone not far removed from my 20-somethings (I turned 30 over the summer), I believe it's not that the GOP has no idea how to appeal to the age group, it's that the age group by and large is more enamored with government programs, specifically those that reward by taking from those who've earned and redistributing to those who have not. Most 20-somethings have not experienced what it is to spend their lives hustling to mane a buck and as such have no concept of how the left preys upon them. They have little life experience and their naivete is reinforced either by an academic establishment awash with leftism or a pop culture awash with the same.

All generations are like this. I was born in 78 and probably have more in common with someone born in 1982 than 1965.

ETA - people get testy because the term millennial has become synonymous with any young person even though it's inaccurate.

OK. I'll work with that.

I tend to agree with this which goes back to me saying that millennials are largely raised by Xers.

To your point on the divide. I've said for a long time. A kid born in 1981 was basically an adult when the internet really even started becoming a thing. A kid born in 1981 was solidly a teenager before cellphones became widespread and even then, marginally so.

The divide in culture between kids who largely had to find their entertainment away from the screen and kids who could be entertained by screens 24/7 is huge.

Yep. That's the primary issue. The term means "any young people" I used to use it too much myself. Now, I like to avoid trying to pinpoint a label on the groups and just talk about the major shift in parenting approach

This is a self own. Your very own math confirms that most millennials were raised by boomers, and that’s without counting millennials born to parents over 30.

And I submit that THIS was driven almost entirely by the stupid shift in parenting paradigm that STILL is going on today.
