Boomers have their share of bull shite to be pointed to but there simply has to be a degree of humor to watching a generation that can't seem to successfully move out of mommy's house making fun of another generation for its financial shortcomings.

What's funny about that one is that the while it's fun to throw darts about financial blah blah blah............the bottom line reason there are more older workers in the work force today than say, 40 years ago is life expectancy and health care.

It ain't like people were doing a good job of planning for retirement before. Hell, SS was created because people had sucked so bad at it that they were starving. That's just a common problem in all societies.

But, while it may sound macabre, the reason for more old people in the work force now is that they're 1)Alive and 2)more likely to be functional than 50 years ago

right a mid 30's person did not become an adult in post 9/11. they were adults, while young adults, they were adults.

Most older people aren't retiring because they like what they do, they'll cut hours but not retire.

We live longer, people work longer. Millennials are just going to have to be grown ups about it.

Let the millienials opt out of Social Security and the humor would start. Can’t mess with the entitlements though.

I always enjoy millenial v. boomer threads. Like all generations before them, Baby Boomers think upcoming generations are the worst, while they idolize their parents' generation.

Let's assume millenials really are the worst. I suppose boomers think it is because they don't share the same values/world view as boomers. That things are changing in a negative way.

Have boomers stopped to think about who instilled values in millenials? About what generation their parents hail from? Millenials are 36 years old on the high end. Did they create the current culture that boomers (who are largely in control) hate?

I'm 51 and fully support this.

AND, I supported GWBs modest proposal to do it for part of SS.

If you don't have it now, you can look at the people who millennials primarily vote for to blame.

Um, no. You don't let the govt break the deal it already made by using means tests.

But, absolutely phase that shite out because it's a crappy deal and millennials are correct to want it gone.

Alas, they need to convince their favorite party of that.

I'm glad you admit it. Now, did Boomers achieve their "success" on their own? Did they come out of the womb by pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps?

If you think millenials are bad, blame Boomers. They apparently believe they learned values, independence and the right way of doing things from their parents, and then failed to pass it on to their children.

Millennials have every right to point and that they were raised with a fricked up parenting paradigm and would be correct if they did............

Alas, millennials need to FIRST acknowledge the paradigm was bad. Instead, they want to repeat it and in fact, ARE repeating it.

Learn from your predecessor's mistakes. Don't double down on it!!

Really not true. As you get older, you find your niche

You folks have a lot to look forward to. Less work, working remotely, more free time, live longer and healthier, fewer responsibilities, more automation, etc

You're welcome.
