But, beyond that, you can actually track the problem to when the public embraced the teachings of Dr. Benjamin Spock and others like him regarding child rearing.
It's fun to throw darts at millennials but they are the direct result of an absurd long term parenting experiment gone wrong.

Did you even read that study? It’s saying people aren’t adults because they aren’t married and working full time. Anyone can get married and change oil. Not seeing how that’s adulthood any more than obtaining a masters degree
I’m a millennial and I’ve been working since I was 15. I know how to change oil and head gaskets. I built my own computer and taught myself programming. You’re just running with a bunch of stereotypes. You haven’t linked anything substantial
Name something you can do that I can’t. I dare you

Kids 40 years ago had to grow up faster, learn survival skills, take care of things around the house, autos etc.
They learned how to apply knowledge across all lines to make things happen, because they had to in order to sustain themselves

I do, but as an adult I realize we get distracted and make mistakes

Nah, it's a fact that kids are less adjusted to critical problems, not a debate.
I'm not sure why that offends, this trend will only continue

I already showed you that that trend did not appear until the tail end of millennials. This thread is about millennials. See the title?

Now' I will say the level of information possessed my this group is unparalleled. We need schools to stop fovpcusing on rote memory and integrate lessons

No, the two are entertained

It doesn't surprise me that a millennial wouldn't understand that.
You Greatest Generationers need to brush up on your critical thinking.

I'm gonna defend this "millennial"...Changing oil, mowing the lawn, and other "practical" skills, are friggin overrated. I think the goal should be to make enough money to pay someone to do these tasks...and one doesn't have to actually do those tasks to accomplish this.
As an employer, I see plenty of millennials that are good employees. I've seen some bad one too...just like the generation before them and so forth.
What I have learned is that they can be really smart when they are channeled in the right way. Do they require coddling? Yes. And you also have to be prepared for them to leave...the will better deal you over the smallest of offers....but I guess that is to be expected...

There's nothing more humorous on this board than someone laughing at a word usage fail while simultaneously, fricking up word usage.

I absolutely believe our education system is complicit. Add in helicopter parenting and it's easy to follow the trail
Blame for this problem falls squarely on the shoulders of boomers and Generation X. There's no doubt in my mind

if you are in your mid 30's you did not grow up in a post 9/11 day.
Oh, the irony...
This is what I actually said:
quote:
As already stated on this thread, on average, we grew up during the internet revolution and became adults in a security theater post-9/11 world.
Which is 100% accurate.
quote:
my arse? im mid 30's and probably your boss. you sound like one of those douchebags who acts like you are so high up yet you are still a pencil pusher.
Oh, so you’re a Millenial who thinks they are a special outlier. You aren’t. Embrace the fact that Millenials are kicking arse. It doesn’t make you any less than. And you’re certainly not my boss, because I’m almost all out of them. Again, you aren’t the only Millenial out there in full blown supervisory positions. Stop the self hating
