Reminds me of an episode of Black Mirror. We’re already seeing people get fired from their jobs for their opinions on social issues. Now they’re getting fired for their spouse’s opinions! How long before you’re not able to board a commercial plane or live in an upscale neighborhood based on your thoughts?

If employers/landlords etc want to “punish” people for dumb statements they made in public that’s not preferable but at least there’s an argument for it. What I’m afraid of is “punishing” for simply not touting the party line. For example, a hiring manager passing over someone because they haven’t made a “progressive” social media post in the past year, or passing over someone because they don’t keep a social media profile at all.

Zero, point, zero.
I feel myself getting sucked in to being uber political all the time because almost every hobby or interest I've ever had has been invaded by liberals. Sports, music, gaming, technology, etc. frick 'em all. I'm very much being stand-offish at work with the water-cooler political talk. Giving my opinion would get me fired.

Jon, none of those examples are different from the other.
All result in punishment because someone did or didn’t do what another person wanted.

So does deleting Facebook erase your past comment history? Because I’m at the point where I am done with social media.
I haven’t really posted anything controversial on my own page but I’ve belonged to “controversial” FB groups and have definitely made public comments on CNN type pages that I could be canceled over.
