I stand corrected. Good to know. Thanks.

I'm going to do it all over again in a couple of weeks. Last time I talked to the broker he said clients were complaining that they now owe short-term cap gains tax on the difference. :(

quote:I suppose everyone is supposed to think your comments were made in a vacuum, and had no connection with any other political issues in EBR Parish. If my pointing out that the issues facing the Zachary school system are not unique, and providing a comparison that points out my preference for how the Zachary school board is addressing the issues rustles your jimmies that is too bad. Others who live within the boundaries of the EBRPSS might wish they were given the same choices as those within the boundaries of the Zachary school system.
Why do you crave making the EBR school system look bad in a thread about the Zachary school system by linking a story that's over a half year old and which has already been addressed by the EBR school board? Are you really that pathetic in your negativity?
Don't you think this matter has some relevance to discussions of the proposed St. George, and the desires of people outside the city of Baton Rouge for improvements to public schools? I do, and the situation does not appear advantageous to those in favor of St. George as it makes their fiscal projections seem overly rosy.

Going back to Zachary schools, heard at Xmas from uncle that more and more people are getting fed up and putting their kids in private schools like Siliman, Centreville, and Central Private. And know of at least three couples who moved back to Baton Rouge and sending their kids to Catholic schools.
Biggest complaint: Zachary schools only focus on preparing for tests instead of giving a well rounded education to prepare for college and life, and the school board using the money for shiny new buildings instead of for the students.

Ummm... There's only 1 public High School in PCP now. Not sure about the elementary school closures

In those days, there were 2. Central High and Livonia high schools. At some point Central was taken over by the state. I'm not sure what it's status is now.
quote:
Last March, Brady shut down the Central campus for the 2014-15 school year as part of a ruling tied to a decadeslong desegregation case. His decision came after the state’s Recovery School District, which ran the school for six years, asked the court to return jurisdiction of Central to the Pointe Coupee School Board. The RSD made the request after the state failed to improve the school’s academic performance.
Students who were attending Central High are now enrolled at Livonia High School.
Brady also ordered the School Board to submit a plan for Central’s use for the 2015-16 school year — one that would attract enough racial diversity to a campus that has historically been attended mostly by black students. That’s where D’Amico’s proposed STEM academy comes into play.

If you want to start a St George thread, go ahead, but you consistently hijack other threads just to display your bitterness and negativity.
