No clue, but I've stopped putting weight to sworn statements. There's clearly no penalty for lying under oath anymore. You can even do it at a Supreme Court confirmation hearing.

2nd thread on this. Hughes was made to look like a fire breathing conservative by GumboPAC when he ran. It would not surprise me that the ambulance chasers had him be their bag man.

Looks and smells like a political hit piece that has no credibility.

Most people that think they are the smartest person in the room tend to do some pretty stupid shite.

This is not an isolated event, according to the papers.

His positions on the LASC haven’t been exactly conservative, either.

The first indication Johnny Blount is lying, or the newspaper has an agenda. Non-biased news sources don't use descriptors like "troubling."

After all that has come out over the past few months involving Hughes, why would he leave the house right now?

In an interview Saturday, Hughes also said he told the ex-councilman, local political operative Johnny E. Blount, that he might find it more financially rewarding to back Hans Liljeberg, the state appeals court judge facing off against Crain in the Nov. 16 runoff.

quote:

On Friday, Liljeberg insisted he was unaware of the alleged offer from Hughes, saying, “I don’t know why he would do that. I wouldn’t think he’d have that much interest in the race.” Should Liljeberg prevail in the runoff, he will have gotten to the state’s highest court with critical support from a key group of backers who helped elect Hughes: a group of powerful trial attorneys led by the Baton Rouge-based Talbot, Carmouche and Marcello law firm.

What in the actual frick. Hopefully this election cycle will open everyone's eyes to how crucial these judicial elections are and what can potentially happen when we are not paying attention.

I like Jeff Hughes. The previous attempt to smear him was chocked full of half-truths and out and out lies.

I believe this latest attempt is more of the same.

What about just what he admitted to the TP? This is a sitting LASC justice making those admissions.

Jeff Hughes is bought and paid for the by the ambulance chasing plaintiff mafia looking to squeeze a big payday out of oil and gas.

He's no friend to conservatives and economic growth in Louisiana.
