What would the process of splitting the country up look like

Would there need to be a constitutional convention? How would assets get split - I think this is something that will happen sooner than later. Would be pretty incredible if we could do it peacefully.

It would take a Texas or a Florida to get things started. Smaller states could join in and make some sort of “Compact of Red States” that would begin to work together even as part of the current nation.
We’d eventually get to a point where we had two de facto countries, there would be 50 more years of this Cold War thing and eventually both sides would have leaders at the same time that would work things out.

Each state would need their own army to protect their interests for starters. Then alliances shrub other states

Nope, they want it all, we will have to break away by force but unlike last time, the other foreign are united and they will 100% back the Blunited State and crush the Red. We have no more oversea allies.

A new nation formed of seceded states would be immediately invaded by the USA unless China and the new nation formed an alliance before secession and China had allied military forces ready to defend the new nation on Day 1.
