What would it take for this country to reboot from it's current political climate?

When I say reboot, I don't mean to completely start over. I mean to get back more to their roots. Events just seeem to pile up on top of each other nowadays. It really seems as though you cant get any relief from social, political, economic, or natural disaster. Of course it's media covers that turns it up.
I know political disagreements are unavoidable. But what would it take, to stop people from interpreting every single event as life or death? When do people start acting like civilized adults? What will it take? Another 9/11 won't do anything. That only lasted for a few years.
Would someone in the political spectrum getting assasinated do it? Are we passed the time, where things like this do or could happen in the United States? Is something like that bound to happen, or a thing of the past? Would that wake people up, and change their ways? Would it matter if it was someone who was as disliked as 45, or does it need to be someone who is universally regarded as a great leader? Is that type of person even possible in our current political climate?

Killing all the white people.

As long as a small handful of people in New York and Los Angeles control the entire media and tech industry, you're going to have a major spiteful division in this country.
A small group of powerful left wing string pullers in the cities vs. the entire rest of the country.

Make dueling legal again. Life was better when Congressmen could challenge each other to pistols at dawn for lying about one another.
You call me a Nazi. I tell you to recount your statement or meet me under the oaks at dawn to defend your statement.

EMP knocking out all TV and internet. People would go back to living their lives in the real world instead of constantly refreshing their browser for the next thing to be offended by.

The ONLY hope would be to change the law restricting who actually is eligible to vote. Not even the United States can survive when people with IQ's below 80 are voting en masse.
Both parties have taken advantage of the stupid , with the Democrats leading by a wide margin on that front, and the result is a government that simply put does not work for the people.
Look no further than "Russian collusion" to see that. I't obvious to all but the very lowest IQ among us that this was a set up from the jump and that the entire thing has been a violation of the rights of so many people that it really isn't even funny, but plenty of idiots believe when they are told "pay o attention to the evidence, just take my word for it"

I am not sure it can.
I think the american experiment is over. It is time to break up the country. I think it is too dissimilar to survive.
Maybe if we had a generational style leader akin to reagan to lead the country. I didn't like reagan politics but he did get a good chunk of the country behind him. I just don't think that person exists.

I'd venture a guess that the middle 75% of the country (political middle, not geographic) don't view every little thing as life or death. The problem we're encountering is that the extreme right is content so they are therefore being pretty quiet, yet the extreme left is enraged so they are sky screaming. It just so happens that the extreme left tends to be very plugged into and vocal on social media outlets, so their presence is more pronounced.
It also doesn't help that it appears a high percentage of representation in DC is fine kowtowing to this contingent and basing their own agendas off it, rather than off of that of the more moderate base. It's exactly why we see the left skew so far left today.
Which leads to the main problem: there isn't consensus or cooperation in DC because the major players there don't want there to be. Republican leadership and Democrat leadership aren't fighting for policy; they are fighting for control.

Conservatism , by it's nature, seeks to conserve Constitutional principles. Progressivism, by it's nature, seeks to replace Constitutional principles with whatever it happens to feel most passionate about on a given day. The entire infrastructure of media, entertainment, journalism, literature, art, academia, lower education, Tech, social media etc is aligned to PUNISH Conservatives and REWARD Progressives. So the two sides are inexorably opposed and we are past the point of reconciliation. It's about governing and power only at this point. As The Left owns the culture, the Right is dug in to control governance.

You want to bring back dueling?

I posted something similar here last week or so. This country was stronger back in the day when a man really did have freedom of speech, but that speech could lead to him taking an arse whipping without law enforcement getting called. IOW when a man really had to think "should I say this out loud?"
