They were spying on all the front running Republicans, Cruz, Rubio, Bush, and, of course, Trump.
The dossier would have been used to get FISA on Cruz, but with only some of name changes, and the same folks would be telling the same tales on Cruz as they did Trump.
Unless Cruz decided to play ball, and let the corruption train still roll, he would suffer the same fate as Trump.

Ted Cruz can't be President because the average American has the IQ of an eggplant and rejects any form of morality.
Trump won because he understood this and capitalized on it. That's why he's a winner in everything he does... He understands what it takes to win.

They would not have done anything because nothing would have changed... Cruz would not have been remotely "Trumpish" and in no way would he have challenged the norm...

He would have lost. I don’t think anyone would ever argue Ted is not brilliant. These 3 years he’s been studying a new playbook, if Trump wins again I will bet 2024 shows us a new Ted on the trail

This. He was completely an establishment republican on matters of trade and immigration. He just knew evangelical code words better than Bush, Romney, or McCain.
I would appoint him to the Supreme Court.

Cruz isn't Supreme Court material. Supreme Court Justices have to have honesty and integrity and a willingness to override their own preferences in favor of the original intent of the Constitution and the Law. Although I admire his intelligence and his willingness to fight for what is right, Cruz does not qualify for the above. He lost my support when he knew that he was not qualified as a "natural born Citizen" but he wanted to pull an Obama and run for the Presidency anyway. "Lyin' Ted" was an appropriate moniker.

This is what we shall never know. I'm a Cruz supporter. He was a loud conservative in a very left wing environment at Princeton and Harvard. He didn't bend an inch.
But I've seen conservatives knuckle under the pressure of constant media attacks. It amazes me that Trump hasn't buckled.
