I enjoy Rush, and agree with him all of the time. But I sometimes wonder what makes him the king of talk radio? Is it that he was basically the first one to do political commentary on talk radio? That he’s kind of one of us, not a college grad, middle class background, etc? Is it something as simple as his time slot?

I personally enjoy Levin more as I think he does a better job of explaining things from a constitutionality standpoint.

I just haven’t been able to put a finger on what Rush does that has made him the most widely listened to talk radio host.

he understands his opposition better than anyone. including saban's shadow staff.

it is amazing how often his predictions are accurate.

He was the first real conservative radio personality to start saying what we all had been thinking, but nobody else was saying.

It's simple, all that shite that rolls around in your head with regards to corrupt and despicable Dim politics, well he has the talent on loan from God to organize and present that information in a coherent an entertaining way.

Because he can explain what you are thinking very clearly and concisely.

Also, he is friggin hilarious, although he has moved away from outright comedy somewhat. I still remember the days when he would have the sound of chainsaws running when he would do his "environmental update."

I wish he would bring back the Paul Shanklin parodies that were so hilarious but I would still listen. He is very informative.

You must have never heard of Father Coughlin during the 1930s.

Yeah, that’s kinda what I meant when I said that he’s like a lot of us.

Coughlin was pretty much a socialist.

That was actually the timber update. Hilarious. The other day a young guy called Rush and mentioned how his Dad loved the timber updates. Rush played the entire update song. I dated an environmentalist and I would play that update to troll her.

He's one of the last people on political talk radio who actually rose up in the old school radio business.

He turned that on its ear and many people have since tried to duplicate what he's doing, but almost none of them have the background in being trained in radio communication like he did. They all tend to come from elsewhere.

It’s an interesting question.

Two things IMO:

1. He does a great job of framing political issues from a slightly different perspective which is a credit to his research team and his ability to tell a story.

2. He was born with a voice that projects the perfect frequency attractive to the human ear.
