What is your threshold to Middle East involvement?

It's hard for me to fathom a legit scenario where I would be for boots on the ground, or even war of any type.

I guess a full-scale state sponsored attack on an ally, or a legit threat of nuclear war.

Also nuclear weapons in the hands of non-governmental actors.

Regional powers should be handling the current problems, if they need handling. We should not be involved at all.

If we don't intervene, extremists end up in power.

If we do intervene, extremists end up in power.

Although I detest TIME crapazine, their front cover this weekend is ISIS knows where to get a dirty bomb.

Unfortunately, it's going to take huge mass casualties for the world to get onboard. Right now, we're still pussyfooting around due to cultural sensitivities.

Just wait until one goes off in Times Square then all of a sudden, people will be onboard. You can be assured that El-Sisi is kicking down doors this very second and those captured will not be having a fun time.

We have far more to lose than gain by sticking our nose in the Middle East

Unless a government actually sponsors an attack on our own soil, we should not get involved

If a government does sponsor an attack on our own soil(i.e. Japan Pearl Harbor, the last time such a thing happened) we should blow the country off the map no questions asked. This will mean it's quick, fast and no drawn out ground war to be dragged into, and sends a message to other countries.

I'm basically for no involvement under any circumstances. Even in the scenarios I mentioned, we probably shouldn't get involved.

Any of our allies that were attacked by some shitty ME country could likely defend themselves.

No ME country really has the capabilities to attack us directly, except through terrorist means.

So, the narrow thresholds that I described are unlikely. I would never get involved over internal issues in an ME country or ME countries fighting each other.

If we are going to kill all rag heads at one time. I'm in if not let them kill each other. Just one less terrorist every time one gets killed.

Unless our goal is to conquer the Middle East, and control the land as an American territory, then stay the frick out.

Nothing good will ever come of that place.
