Because non republicans can vote in the republican primary. They can make their vote count the most not by voting for Biden but against Trump.

The fact they are strongly against the illegals but write in Biden tells you all you need to know. Its a really screwed up state of odd balls. Trump getting a victory here in the primary is a big bonus.
