My intellectual hook was the axiom no thing can come from nothing. A self existent creator was then acceptable. Whether he chose to reveal his character and its nature came little later. I'm no qualified apologist I just know what I know.

What’s your occupation if you don’t mind me asking?

Don't mind at all. I'm a project manager in the industrial electrical field. My work has taken me many places in the United States. Some of it has been enjoyable because I've got to see so many places and meet so many people. But it's tough being on the road for long periods of time. Cost me my last relationship unfortunately.

Rex once said he truly wished he could believe. I remember that so clearly it came after some ridicule but I understood why. And it changed my thinking and thankfulness.

I think what Rex expressed is very understandable human vunerabilty
because we like to believe that we are in control or capable of control

and accepting that there is a higher power kind of forces us to accept that no matter how hard we try no matter how hard we work or how smart we are bad things can happen to us and those we love

Who the frick goes around meeting people from this site like that? You I guess.

Years ago we had some group meet ups. I think the last time I was with anyone IRL was when I met with Rex and his wife in 2018.

I've probably met dozens of people from here even if it was briefly at a tailgate. Most of the people I met weren't regular poli board posters.

You might be surprised how good most of the people are here. One of the guys I met years ago contacted me to see if could help with a Katrina related charity I posted on here years ago.

Such a goofy phenomenon. I’m only hoping they audibly “grrrrr” when they do it.

I don’t think I knew the part about his wife. I knew he had killed himself. Anyone have any more information?

I could post the article but I'm hesitant to do that. Since it contains actual names. And his brother is still alive.

Yeah it's tough to force yourself to believe something. I have different views on religion than I did back in those days myself. But we tend to not talk about religion as much here because it's sort of prohibited.

Reading this thread and listening to Ennio Moricone’s” Once Upon a Time in America “ pushes buttons. Life is so bittersweet. It behoves us all battle in the arena of ideas, but to appreciate those opponents who do so in good conscience. It’s here and gone in the blink of an eye, once the end comes.

Love to the Board. And prayers for those who leave with pain in their hearts.

he was a lovely kind funny man, we spoke often
it pained me that he wasn't allowed by some in his circle to see past their own sin and love a lovable man

I don't think he was baptist in his later days. He was definitely Christian. I know because I had attended Easter Mass with him in 2008. I miss the old ginger. He was a great friend to me in an area where I knew no one.

Guessing he either gave up on the place or is posting under a different name. His style is noticable enough where someone would have figured him out by now.
