What does a society do when no longer can any media sources be trusted?

In the days before the internet and cable, someone would turn on one of the 3 famous alphabet stations, get the headlines from a famous anchor, and simply assumed he was hearing the truth. That probably was naive, but that’s all we had.
Fast forward , and there are now so many sources to gather information it can make your head spin. Not only are there numerous places to seek stories, but each particular place has its own spin and paints the news a particular way. Couple that with the lack of trust we now have for our official government sources, and we are left in a bind.
Who do we trust? What are the facts? What is the law?
There never seems to be a consensus on anything.
Even matters that should be black and white are parsed and nuanced in a way that’s unclear. What’s a person to do?

As long as free enterprise exists, and that is an open question in this environment, the market will create alternative sources. It already has vis a vis the media. We have access to many sources of information relative to ten, twenty, thirty years ago.

Go talk to your neighbors. Have a face to face conversation. Go to church on Sundays.

I do this regularly. But that won’t answer my questions when I’m wondering about the facts concerning issues like attorney/ client privilege or nuclear sources.

How does this advice help when you are given two conflicting stories concerning the same topic, both reporting to be truth?

Turn off the propaganda machines.

I go to church on Sunday’s and Wednesdays too. This is a non answer

Neither one is true. Only the Spirit of God has the truth. Open the Bible.

It’s hardly possible for me to be on TD more than I am now, and still function.

It's not a non answer. The Holy Spirit is the only thing that can lead you to truth. Trust not in man, only in the Lord your God. Pray for understanding. You'll see more clearly.

How can the Revelator reveal anything if he himself doesn't know? You need a break, spend some time reading the word.

Turn it off
They base everything on ratings. Make them go away using their terms.

I listen to Bongino regularly, but his sources turn out to be wrong multiple times as well. Plus, he’s obviously biased like everyone else.

You have to realize that the news isn’t about reporting facts, it’s about establishing a narrative, selling perception, and exercising influence.
Once you understand this you’ll be able to see how reporting the actual truth can be a conflict of interest for them.
They are under no obligation to provide you with the truth, so consider the source. Do your own research. Evaluate the issue yourself on its own merits.
You’re looking for truth in a place it does not exist imo.
