I hear people say "healthcare is a right".

But how? Healthcare is something that requires doctors.

Doctors aren't free. Imagine every single doctor on Earth quit. Are they denying people their rights?

If so, how? How do you have a right to someone's labor? The answer is you don't because it's not a right.

A right is something that you have that can't be taken away... things like liberty and freedom of expression.

They aren't things that have to be given to you through other people's labor... like healthcare.

Even if you believe we should have universal healthcare, it's still not a "right".

Sleeping on a beach. No entity should be able to outlaw man being in tune with Mother Nature occasionally

Seems to me great minds thought long and hard about this at some point in this country's history and even wrote it down on paper.

Some on this board think a right is anything it takes to make someone happy or anything they want.

It's mind boggling.

Imagine that all public defenders quit. Does that mean they are denying people their right to an attorney and a fair trial?

Plenty of so called "rights" guaranteed by the state require the state to provide for and protect those rights. Nothing inconsistent about that.

A "right" is just a vague concept. Whomever has the power controls the "rights" of the others. Ask Japanese Americans during WW2.

You really have no rights unless they allow it.

Unless we are willing to turn people away that don't have health insurance, single payer is the best way to handle heath care. This cuts outs out the middle man (insurance companies).

It should be something one can do independently of the actions of others.

Both of those can quite easily be taken away.
