Defeat and ban the DEMOCRAT PARTY for at least 50 to 100 years.

They not only encourage and support criminals, THEY ARE CRIMINALS

I agree with this. Being a democrat should be made illegal, and anyone caught promoting liberal ideology should be arrested on site.

Of course they are going to blame it on the resources.

That’s why I started the thread, to get other viewpoints.

Is it inaccurate to say that there are not enough resources to prosecute at the current crime level?

Public humiliation and execution. For death penalty a public hanging in proximity to where the criminal is from, or for less severe offenses putting them in a stockade for the day so the public can see and ridicule them maybe even throw stones. When someone does get put away, there should be no early release. This would be a good start.

I have 32 years experience in the CJ business.

The system fails in between the Courts and Corrections portions. Corrections, both jail, Prison and community corrections are used as the dumping grounds for offenders. They are never given proper funding or resources to do their job. That job is incarceration and rehabilitation. Community corrections job is monitoring and surveillance in addition to treatment and rehabilitation. We’re expected to accomplish the impossible with nothing.

Adding more and more Cops is not the answer. In fact, we have too many Cops because the rest of the system can’t keep up with the work they generate.

When was the last time you heard a politician say what I just said? Never. That’s because it doesn’t get votes.

I hope you all read this because it’s 100% true and the correct answer.

Also the state should contract out some of the long term prisoners to be held in a third world country. for example if Louisiana can contract prisoner housing to Mexico for inmates with sentences longer then 10 years for example, with the difference int the value of the dollar and the foreign nations currency rate means it won't cost the tax payer of Louisiana as much to house the prisoner. Keep in mind it doesn't have to be Mexico, it can be Nigeria, or Somalia, I don't care as long as it's a shite hole with a weak currency.

More death penalty. I have worked in the system, and believe me, you get crowded for space in prisons when you have a 25 or 30-year-old doing literal life for heinous crimes. We are devoting a solid fifty years of bedspace to this person who doesn't deserve a second thought. Prisons are overcrowded because of these long sentences that shouldn't be given in the first place. If you are sentenced to more than twenty years, you really aren't worth the cost anymore, sorry.

Legalize fentanyl as the method of execution. All of the arguments against the death penalty revolved around the cruel and unusual punishment clause. Well, fentanyl solves all of that. It slows your breathing down gently and peacefully. Lethal doses are miniscule in cost, also. Those that want violent, bloody executions to come back just aren't going to get their wish, so more lethal injections with fentanyl are the only really practical answer.

Change "ignorance of the law is no excuse" to ignorance being a valid excuse to breaking a law.

that would cause the whole legal system to slim down to just the critical issues

Inmates in jails cost money.

The courts don’t care about people in prison as much as they want money. Probation and fines means the person is out and able to make money to pay everyone ( fines, probation fees, ankle monitor company, substance abuse counseling, etc.).

This person in jail can’t pay everyone

Yeah...drug users only hurt themselves. Cause we all know drug users don't do anything else wrong to feed their habit....:face-palm:

No doubt. When they have cops posted up writing tickets at 7 am to people driving to work, they are officially over staffed.

NYC used to have 120k in jail, but after 8 years of the communist mayor, it is down to 3,000.

Ever heard of the term “You can’t fix stupid?”

I don’t agree that major funding should come from tax dollars to pay for an attempt at fixing someone so they can be a contributing member of society.

Jail / prison apparently isn’t punishment enough for many of these re-offenders. I know it sounds harsh but as a society if we continue to financially support carrying the “weak”, it’ll continue to drag the rest of society down
