so some competitors just have $1M items laying around "old" and in stock?

yes, many competitors, including myself, have millions of dollars of inventory some of which is over a year old. shelf life for this product is pretty long.

and they have so many of these laying around that the "not subject" to the same tariff you are is significant.

some, yes.

quote:

so you operate in a business environment that is competitive enough to have "competitors who are hungry for market share" and you think the best way to compete is to do nothing but pay the tariff imposed, (at the moment of delivery which in your example of whip sawing tariffs just happens to be the peak point).

sometimes there is no other option. i am constantly bringing in product for customers and for stock. i need to do this to keep the business running. i have to pay the tariff amount that is in effect when the container gets to the port. and when that tariff amount doubles overnight, it makes it difficult to manage cash flow.

the entire point in sharing all of this is to show that there are some businesses / industries that are negatively affected by the tariff policies of the last 12 months. it is a reality.

well you've done a nice job......

and you are correct there are some businesses and some industries that have been negatively affected by the tariff policies of the last 12 months.....

there are some businesses and some industries that were negatively affected by the inflationary and regulatory and taxation policies of the months before that as well as the (continued) tariff policies during the same period.

there are some businesses and some industries affected by the theft of intellectual property within their industry.

there are some businesses and some industries that have been affected by the fact that the sun came up this morning in the east.

but you've done a nice job of shining a light on this issue and the way a particular business (yours) has reacted to it.

best of luck to you in your highly competitive marketplace.

I hope the next candidate you vote for at least once is able to properly control all the issues facing your business in a way that only affects your highly competitive business in the most positive of ways.

thanks. just trying to show some people on here that some businesses can't just pass on the tariff amount and continue on as normal.

Why? Corporations just passed the tariffs onto the consumer. Why would they get that money back?

One would hope he was not soooooo busy being right that he took nothing away from this little discussion he could use for the future.

His LSU grad employees deserve that he did.
